IHS student Sinead Mallon talks about her journey to health, fitness and studying with IHS

IHS Certificate in Dietary Counselling Student
Blog ‘Miss Gym Bunny’
Owner of Elite Fitness Centre Newry

I am currently completing the Dietary Counselling course through the Institute of Health Sciences. I began my health, fitness and feel-good blog ‘Miss Gym Bunny’ in December 2013 with the aim of supporting, empowering and motivating the public to improve their physical and mental health.

My boyfriend and I decided to pursue our passion last year and opened our gym Elite Fitness Centre outside Newry in September 2014.

I have always had a huge interest in nutrition and I have spent a substantial amount of time educating myself at home over the years. With our gym business and the blog operating in the area of health and fitness, continuous education is vitally important for me to keep on top of the latest research and studies.

I choose to study with Institute Health Sciences to provide increased structure to my education. The practical and flexible aspect of their courses very much appealed to me. I have a very busy lifestyle and was unable to commit to a full-time course so the flexibility of their courses along with the great reviews of their professional staff were exactly what I had been looking for in a nutrition course.

I am currently enrolled on the Dietary Counselling course with the college but I would be keen to further my studies with and complete their Nutritional Therapy course. To date, the course has allowed me the opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced nutritional therapists in the country, provided structure to my education, and put me in touch with many like-minded people from across Ireland.

Equipped with the knowledge from my IHS course, I hope to continue to grow my blog and business to promote improved physical and mental health for all.
