It’s time to meet the IHS team again. This month we are delighted to introduce you to Sheila Downes

Sheila Downes

Q1: What qualifications in the Health and Wellness field do you hold?

I have a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy from IHS and have completed many CPD courses in nutrition and Functional Medicine.

Q2: What is your role at IHS?

I am a clinic mentor with IHS and I am also a course consultant as part of the operations team.

Q3: What does your role at IHS look like on a day to day basis?

As an enrolment consultant, I liaise with prospective students to bring them through our courses and guide them in deciding which course will set them on the right path to achieving their career goals. We have students enquiring about our courses from all over the world and it’s great to get the opportunity to speak with people across the globe and hear of their plans for a career change into the health and wellness industry. As a clinic mentor, I guide and support our 4th year students through clinical practice.

Q4: How did you get into the health and wellness industry?

I have always had an interest in health and nutrition and so when the opportunity to take redundancy from my job of 12 years came about, I grabbed it with both hands and followed my passion. The rest as they say is history!

Q5: What is your philosophy on, and what do you feel are the most important elements of, health and wellness?

I believe that health and wellness is more than just nutrition, exercise and being free of disease. These are absolutely the foundation of good health but I also think happiness and finding joy in life plays a huge role in our wellbeing.

Q6: Why do you think individuals should consider a career in health and wellness?

It is such a rewarding career and there is a growing demand now for health and wellness coaches.
