One to Read – Delalicious – A Full Plate for a Full Life, Sinead Delahunty

Our book for September is a cookbook created by Tipperary GAA footballer Sinead Delahunty. Juggling a full-time job as a physiotherapist with a Gaelic football career and a food blog, Sinéad understands the pitfalls of being under time pressure. She does not follow any diet, which is refreshing and through her experience on and off the pitch, she has mastered how to fuel her body healthily.

Sinead has learnt that nutrition and hydration are key components to complement athletic ability. The book offers some tips and tricks for meal planning, how to enjoy zero waste while in the kitchen and how to GIY – grow it yourself.

Her recipes cover everything from breakfast right through to dessert and everything in-between. We particularly love the Berry & Oat Muffins and the Dark Chocolate and Walnut Banana Bread – we will be trying these very soon. There are recipes on Tasty Extras such as Pesto, Hummus and the Nettle and Parmesan Dukkah took our fancy!

This book is simple fare, nicely put together and is written with balance in mind and how to fuel a healthy body. It would make the perfect addition to any cookbook collection and will offer up some new and exciting recipes to try at home which friends and family will enjoy.
